Suri Named HM All-America by Golfweek

DURHAM, N.C. - Rising senior Julian Suri was named an honorable mention All-America by Golfweek after setting a Duke single-season stroke average record during the 2011-12 season. Suri, an All-ACC and PING All-East Region selection, closed the year with a 71.3 stroke average and eight top 20 finishes.

The St. Augustine, Fla., native shot even-par or better in 19 of 33 rounds this season with a team-best 16 under-par rounds and nine rounds in the 60s. Suri also posted a counting team score in 32 of 33 rounds, while guiding the Blue Devils to a win at the 2011 Rod Myers Invitational and five runner-up finishes.

Suri claimed medalist honors at the Rod Myers Invitational and John Burns Intercollegiate, while also adding top 5 finishes at the U.S. Collegiate Championship, Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters and Irish Creek Collegiate.  He posted two 11-under tournaments during the season, which are tied for the fourth-best 54-hole scores in school history.

He also fired a seven-under 65 in the opening round at the John Burns Intercollegiate, tied for the fourth-best round in Duke history, and went 3-1 at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play while helping Duke to a runner-up finish.
