Kerr Receives TopDrawerSoccer Honors

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University sophomore Kaitlyn Kerr has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week on Monday, after helping lead Duke to victories over Georgia and Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament over the weekend.

Kerr, who is out of Bensalem, Pa., registered a goal in the NCAA Tournament second round versus Georgia and then headed in the game-winner against Ohio State on Sunday in the 81st minute.  In three NCAA Tournament matches in 2011, Kerr has four goals scored.

With the two goals over the weekend, Kerr owns 10 tallies this season, which is a career high.  The 5-5 midfielder has scored five goals over the last six matches.  Kerr also owns six game-winning goals, which is tied for the team lead with freshman Kelly Cobb.

Kerr and the No. 1 seeded Blue Devils will host Long Beach State on Friday, Nov. 25 in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Koskinen Stadium at 7:00 p.m.  Duke advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for only the fourth time in school history and will be looking to advance to the NCAA College Cup for only the second time.
