Duke in Pictures: Breaking the Fast for Ramadan

iftar

Members of the Duke and local Muslim community begin prayers at the daily Iftar celebration ending the day's fast during Ramadan, the most sacred month in Islam. During the month, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and take part in extra prayers and worship.  The Duke Center for Muslim Life, along with Abdullah Antepli and the Muslim Student Association, has held a daily Iftar during Ramadan at the center at 406 Swift Ave.

Ramadan culminates with the celebration of Eid, which will be held Monday, July 28. Below, the participants break their fast with an evening meal Thursday.
