Duke Chapel Selects Student Preacher for Feb. 24 Service

Andrew Crewson, a Trinity junior majoring in economics and religion, will preach in Duke Chapel.

Duke Chapel has selected junior Andrew Crewson as this year's Student Preacher.

Crewson, a Trinity junior majoring in economics and religion, will preach in Duke Chapel at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24. The Student Preacher Sunday service is open to the public and will also be webcast live at www.chapel.duke.edu.

"I started coming to the Chapel my freshman year," said Crewson, of Sylvania, Ohio. "To preach from the pulpit that I have adored for the past three years is a great honor for me."

Crewson's sermon is on the significance of food and water in Scripture lessons and their relevance in today's world.

Each year, a Duke Chapel committee selects a student to deliver the sermon on Student Preacher Sunday. The selection process is open to any undergraduate who wants to submit a sermon. Criteria for selection include relevance of a sermon to that Sunday's Scripture, sermon delivery and appropriateness of subject matter for a Chapel service. Crewson's sermon was chosen from seven submissions.
