Lose Weight and Feel Great

Employees can sign up for LIVE FOR LIFE wellness program

To support employees in their effort to lose weight and improve nutritional and fitness habits, LIVE FOR LIFE is offering a new program, "Lose More in 2004," that will begin Jan. 26. Employees can register in teams of 2 - 15 individuals to participate in the 12-week online wellness program, which includes motivation, team support and weekly information and tips.

By registering for "Lose More in 2004," participants can:

  • Have fun with co-workers while helping each other reach weight-loss goals.
  • Gain knowledge, build skills and get inspired through advice from nutritionists and fitness specialists.
  • Move more, reduce stress and burn calories on weekly garden walks and Duke Run/Walk Club sessions led by a LIVE FOR LIFE fitness specialist.
  • Set a course for action and measure progress with weigh-ins and body composition measures.
  • Celebrate personal and team success at a 5-A-Day Signature Luncheon and at the Duke Family Fun 5K.

LIVE FOR LIFE has offered similar programs in the past two years. Duke employees worked together in the "New You in 2002" program to lose more than three tons of weight. During the eight-week program, employees lost an average of 5.5 pounds per person. The following year, employees demonstrated their desire to get healthy again by completing the "New Me in 2003" program, a 12-week online program where employees lost an average of 4.6 pounds per person.

If you are interested in participating in "Lose More in 2004," registration for the program is available through Jan. 25.
