Duke Modifies Travel Restrictions to Four Countries

Duke’s Global Travel Advisory Committee updates travel restrictions

Effective June 15, Duke has modified restrictions on areas within four countries:

  • Algeria – travel will now be allowed to the capital Algiers. The remainder of the country will remain restricted.
  • Burkina Faso – travel to Oudalan, Soum and Loroum Provinces, as well as the border with Mali are restricted. Travel to the remainder of the country is now allowed.
  • Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) – Dix Huit Montagnes, Haut Sassandra, Moyen-Cavally and Bas-Sassandra are all restricted. Travel to the remainder of the country is now allowed. Please note that there continue to be Federally imposed restrictions on travel by U.S. passport holders to Cote d’Ivoire. If you or student/faculty/staff members plan to visit the country, the Office of Export Controls must first clear them.
  • Mexico – Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Durango, Jalisco, Morelos, Michoacan, Guerrero and Mexico States are all restricted, as is travel to the U.S./Mexico border. Travel restrictions on Cuidad Juarez, Nuevo Laredo and Monterrey have been removed.
