See Photos of Employees’ #DukeTimeOff

Summer photo campaign receives more than 30 photos so far

Just over a week into Working@Duke’s #DukeTimeOff photo campaign, Duke community members have shared about 35 photos from across North Carolina and the world with popular Memorial Day images showcasing time spent near water, from pools to lakes and the ocean.

Above, Samantha Shaltz, a lab research analyst in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, snapped a photo of sunrise on Kerr Lake.

“Goodbye every stress of life, hello relaxation in nature,” she wrote.

Along with other photos, that image will be considered for one of many prizes given away over the summer and contributed by the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, Duke Stores, Sustainable Duke, LIVE FOR LIFE and Parking and Transportation Services.

Submit your best time off shot between May 27, 2016 and August 12, 2016 and share your photo to be eligible for prizes. Submissions can be made by sharing photos on social media with #DukeTimeOff or by using this online form. Full contest details can be found in this story.

Working@Duke will begin giving away beach chairs, beach towels and more next week. We will also award branded travel coffee mugs to randomly selected participants over the course of the campaign, which ends Aug. 12.

Grand prizes awarded at the end of the 11-week campaign include:

  • An overnight stay with breakfast at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club
  • Lunch at the Washington Duke Inn’s Fairview Dining Room
  • Duke-themed beach chairs and towels from Duke Stores

An ongoing collection of submissions can be viewed on this website, as well as Working@Duke’s Facebook page.

“Time off is important to get away and reset your mind, so you can focus and be productive throughout your work life,” Bradley wrote.
