How do you spend time away from work?

From now through mid-August, Working@Duke invites staff and faculty to share photos as part the #DukeTimeOff campaign, an effort to highlight the hobbies, excitement and big and small summer adventures of employees outside the office. Last year, employees shared more than 300 photos through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and an online submission.

To be eligible for prizes, photos must be taken between May 27 and Aug. 12, 2016.

Stephanie Grant, business analyst with Administrative Systems Management shared a photo last summer after skydiving at the Triangle Skydiving Center in Louisburg, North Carolina.

“Time off rejuvenates me for work and the next adventure,” she said.

Some employees like Louis-Jan Pilaz, a post-doctoral associate in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, submitted images into the winter. He shared a Christmastime photo of a Florida vacation with his family.

“The trip happened at a time where I had just resubmitted a very important scientific paper in my lab,” Pilaz said. “This means that prior to the trip, I was working pretty hard, which is why the trip was the occasion to recharge for work.”
