Talking Music: Edgar Meyer & Michael Schoenfeld

Acclaimed bassist and composer Edgar Meyer, praised by The New Yorker as "the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument," arrived in Durham to perform his String Quintet, encompassing bluegrass, jazz, and classical styles, as featured guest with Duke's Ciompi Quartet on their 50th Anniversary concert.

The day prior, Duke's Vice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations, Michael Schoenfeld, a former colleague of Meyer's at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, chatted with Meyer on his music and wide-ranging career.

A part of Talking Music: Conversations with Scholars, Writers, Archivists, and Artists, co-sponsored by Duke Performances and the Forum for Scholars & Publics. This installment in the series is also co-sponsored by the Ciompi Quartet.
