Welcome to the Week at Duke in 60 Seconds.

Duke Kunshan University is the first campus in China recognized for sustainable design by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. Duke Kunshan is a “sponge campus,” where rainwater is absorbed, purified, and reused.

Recently, more than a dozen aquatic birds were released into the Duke Gardens pond, where they’ve made their new home. Visitors who wish to feed the birds are encouraged to buy special food at the gift shop.

Duke senior Tze Kang and two classmates have installed a new bus stop kiosk on Central campus that tells riders how long until the next bus arrives. Kang, who studies engineering and computer science, hopes the kiosk will have a positive impact on the Duke community.

Lastly, a diverse stack of spring books written by Duke faculty and staff have just been released. The wide range of topics include anthropology, religion, and politics to name a few.
