University Flags Lowered to Honor Victims of Paris Terror Attacks

In honor of the victims of the Nov. 13, terrorist attack in Paris, France, Gov. Pat McCrory ordered all U.S. and North Carolina state flags to be immediately lowered to half-staff until sunset on Thursday, Nov. 19. This order follows a proclamation issued by President Obama on Nov. 15. Duke is lowering the university flags as well.

“As Americans, the people of North Carolina stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our French brethren against the senseless acts of terrorism in Paris on Friday,” said Governor McCrory. “We grieve over this senseless loss of human life and pray for the families of each and every victim.”

Members of the Duke community are also invited to post comments and expressions of support on a site created by Duke's Center for French and Francophone Studies.
