Duke Buses Detour on East Campus Until 3 p.m.

Three 10-by-10 feet portions of Campus Drive collapsed Friday morning

Duke buses stopping at East Campus will move to a new pick-up and drop-off location until 3 p.m. Friday after three areas of Campus Drive were damaged this morning.

Ed Sinnott, senior coordinator of capital projects with Facilities Management, said the amount of heavy rainfall from recent weeks softened the ground underneath the road's pavement and caused three portions of Campus Drive to partially collapse. Each area is about 10-by-10 feet in size, with two spots by Jarvis Residence Hall and a third by White Lecture Hall.

While repairs take place Friday, buses will make East Campus stops on Campus Drive in front of the Washington Duke statue.

Crews are currently working on a temporary fix to allow for use of Campus Drive in the short term. Sinnott said Facilities will soon determine when and how to permanently repair the road.
