Duke students representing a dozen campus organizations stood in assembly line fashion at the World Food Day: Bringing Hunger Home event held in Von Canon Friday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. An hour into it, about 40 students had packaged close to 3,000 bags of soy, rice and spices to be sent to people in need. Members of the Stop Hunger Now nonprofit coordinated the event, saying they believe it possible to end hunger in their lifetime. Duke sponsors included Diya, the Black Students Association, Mi Gente, the Native American Students Alliance, the Center for Race Relations, Voices for Interfaith Action, Muslim Students Association, Hindu Students Association, Center for Multicultural Affairs, Duke Global Health Institute, Duke Partnership for Service, and Duke Student Government.
