Traffic Advisory: Athletics Games and Family Weekend

Campus will be busy this weekend with basketball, soccer, football and family weekend events

Motorists traveling to and around Duke's campus this weekend should allow for extra travel time beginning today due to athletics games and family weekend.

Please make a note of the following events and plan your parking and routes carefully:

Friday, Oct. 30 - Basketball, Soccer and Family Weekend

Duke Men's Basketball plays Florida Southern in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium. At the same time, Duke Men's Soccer plays Virginia Tech at Koskinen Stadium on West Campus.

Various Family Weekend events, including a welcome with President Richard Brodhead at Washington Duke Inn, will be held tonight.

Saturday, Oct. 31 - Football and Family Weekend

At 7 p.m., Duke Football plays Miami at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Checkpoints will become active at 4 p.m. on Saturday. All Iron Duke Football Parking Permit holders must have their permits hanging from their rearview mirror as they approach for access at these checkpoints and their designated lots. Checkpoints are located at the following intersections:

  • NC 751/Cameron Blvd. and Science Drive
  • NC 751/Cameron Blvd. and Duke University Road
  • Duke University Road and Chapel Drive
  • Duke University Road and Towerview Road
  • Erwin Road and Towerview Road

In addition, please note: For all Duke Football home games, Duke University Road is closed to all traffic except Iron Duke Football Parking Permit holders between Anderson Street and NC 751/Cameron Blvd. On Saturday, the closure will begin at 4 p.m. and re-open to all traffic at 7 p.m. Duke University Road will close again from approximately 10 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
