The Duke community is invited to a pool party and to try Duke’s gyms for free July 11-31

Duke Recreation and Physical Education invites Duke community members who are not campus gym members to “Red, White and Ripped” July 11-31, when they can work out at Wilson and Brodie for free.A picnic and pool party will kick off “Red, White and Ripped” on July 11 at Central Campus Pool. The event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will include cornhole games, T-shirt giveaways, and free sandwich wraps and salads provided by The Fresh Market.“With this complimentary gym admission, nonmembers can do yoga, they can swim and they can attend a fitness class,” said Norma Whitley, Duke Recreation’s member services coordinator. “We can be your stress reliever and the place you can go to entertain yourself.”Duke Recreation expanded the initiative this year by offering free all-day access to allow employees opportunities to visit recreation facilities before work, after work or during lunch. Here are the hours of operation from July 11-31; dates and times are also available in this flier. Brodie Recreation Center on East CampusMonday-Friday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.Saturday-Sunday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.Wilson Recreation Center on West CampusMonday-Friday: 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.Saturday-Sunday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.Central Campus Pool on Yearby AvenueMonday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.Duke community members must show a valid DukeCard ID to use Duke Recreation’s facilities, and all visitors must sign a waiver. Duke community members can also bring family members 10 years old or older to the gyms; Central Campus Pool visitors can bring guests, as long as children under 15 years old are accompanied by an adult.
