Humphreys Wins Rosen Prize

Margaret Humphreys’ book "Marrow of Tragedy: The Health Crisis of the American Civil War" (Hopkins, 2013) has won the inaugural George Rosen Prize from the American Association of the History of Medicine. Humphreys is Josiah Charles Trent Professor in the History of Medicine at Duke.

The prize is awarded to a book or other significant contribution to the history of public health and social medicine.

Humphreys studies the history of disease in America, especially in the South.
