Whether it’s knickknacks, trinkets or tchotchkes, how do you decorate your desk or office?

Whatever you call the personalized items you display at work – we want to see them. Working@Duke is compiling a collection of images through the summer to show off the most unique ways faculty and staff enhance workspaces to show who they are.

Faculty and staff can share examples of unique decor by submitting an image online and/or by sharing a photo on Twitter using #DukeDeskDecor

As Working@Duke collects images, we’ll save them for use in a future story and to share with the Duke community on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

For Lenore Ramm, an IT analyst with the Office of Information Technology, showing personality at her desk means displaying a variety of plush animals, a lava lamp, wall hangings and more.

“I think desk friends make work life better because they are a good expression of who I am, similar to any other cube decoration,” Ramm said. “I do tend to go overboard in my attempts to make my cubicle colorful and entertaining and that in itself is a reflection of my personality. Besides, now and then, everyone needs to hug a cuddly lobster.”
