Former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will speak at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business on Wednesday, April 8. Romney will deliver the Ambassador Dave and Kay Phillips Family International Lecture at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available online at www.tickets.duke.edu ($1.50 processing fee) or in person at the Duke Box Office (no fee). Tickets will be limited to two per person. Parking for the event is available at the Science Drive Visitor Lot for $5.The talk, “A Conversation with Governor Mitt Romney,” will review America’s geopolitical challenges and opportunities in light of events in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and East Asia. In the 2012 campaign, Romney was the first Mormon to be a major-party presidential nominee. He was also a candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination won by John McCain. Before that, Romney served as Massachusetts governor from 2003 to 2007. Previously, he was the founder and then director of Bain Capital, a private equity investment company. Peter Feaver, professor of political science and public policy and director of Duke’s American Grand Strategy Program, will host the discussion.“The dramatic unfolding of events throughout the world seems to give greater resonance to Gov. Romney’s warnings from the 2012 campaign,” Feaver said. “And while he has decided not to run again for president, he remains an influential voice, especially within the Republican Party. His views on the 2016 campaign will be especially timely.”The Phillips Lecture is co-sponsored by Duke’s American Grand Strategy Program, the Office of Global Strategy and Programs, the Sanford School of Public Policy and the Triangle Institute for Security Studies.
