Welcome to the Week at Duke in 60 Seconds.

Governor Mitt Romney spoke at Duke last week. He talked about his run for president in 2012, foreign policy and even his upcoming charity boxing match with Evander Holyfield. You can see the entire talk online

A new Duke study reports that 9 percent of adults in the U.S. who have a history of impulsive angry behavior also have access to guns. The study suggests that to prevent gun violence, checking a gun buyer’s misdemeanor convictions could be more effective than checking his mental health history.

Duke scientists have simulated what happens to soil during high-speed impacts, like from a missile or meteor. It turns out that soil and sand actually get stronger the harder the object strikes!

Finally, Blue Devil Days for the new Duke class of 2019 is now underway. The two-day program introduces admitted students to life at Duke.
