Duke Awards Alumni-Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship

Duke University has awarded Duncan F. McKechney, a graduating senior at Fairport High School in Fairport, N.Y., the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship. The Duke Alumni Association established the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship in 1979 to recognize the academic and personal achievements of students accepted for undergraduate admission to Duke who are also the children or grandchildren of alumni. McKechney is the son of Michael and Heather McKechney. Heather McKechney graduated from Duke in 1992. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement and merit, as well as leadership beyond the classroom.The Alumni Endowed Scholarship consists of the following: -- A scholarship covering tuition, room, board and mandatory fees for eight semesters of undergraduate academic studies, during which the scholar must remain in good standing. The scholarship is available for a four-year undergraduate program.-- An opportunity to participate in a summer-abroad course valued at up to $6,500.-- An opportunity to meet with other scholarship recipients in an informal program that is conducted during each academic year.
