Duke Credit Union Names New CEO

Daniel Berry has been named CEO of the Duke University Federal Credit Union.

The Duke University Federal Credit Union announced this week the appointment of Daniel Berry as chief executive officer after a nationwide search to fill the position.

Berry, who has worked with the Credit Union for 13 years, joined the Credit Union as chief financial officer in 2001 and has served as chief operations officer since 2002. 

“Dan exemplifies excellence in credit union leadership,” said Credit Union board chair Mimi O’Brien. “He has the right combination of skills and experiences to ensure a strong future for the Duke Credit Union, and the board is delighted to have him at the helm.”

Berry succeeds Lee Fogle who retired in December after almost 18 years as CEO. 

Berry is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Duke. He was previously recognized as “Professional of the Year” in 2008 by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions. He has also served on the board of a variety of organizations, including:

  • Management Association of Carolinas Credit Unions
  • North Carolina Council of Credit Union Executives Society
  • North Carolina Credit Unions Council - Tarheel Chapter
  • Carolina Credit Union Services
  • Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic
  • Friedens Lutheran Church
  • Duke Toastmasters

 “I believe in the cooperative nature of credit unions,” Berry said. “Duke University Federal Credit Union has a long history of serving the Duke community.  I look forward to continuing this tradition.” 

Berry and his wife reside in Whitsett, NC with their two daughters.
