Duke in Pics: Duke Chapel by Candlelight

Duke and Durham community members visit the Chapel for holiday music and treats

Surrounded by garland, wreaths and glowing candles, hundreds of visitors sat in the pews of Duke Chapel Thursday afternoon and listened to holiday organ music during the annual Christmas Open House. Outside the chapel, the Vespers Ensemble sang carols such as “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Deck the Halls” while staff helped themselves to cookies and hot spiced cider. Families also looked at puppies and dogs playing in pens; the pets were up for adoption through the Hope Animal Rescue, based in Durham.
