Welcome to the Week at Duke in 60 Seconds.

Tuesday was Veterans Day, and the Duke community commemorated the event with a gathering outside of Duke Chapel, featuring Duke’s ROTC units and retired Marine Corps Major Mike Snyder, who’s now a safety manager at Duke.

A new study from Duke shows that people tend to think there is not a problem, such as global warming, if they disagree with the policy solutions. The article appears in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

This weekend is HackDuke, a weekend for coders to create projects for social good. The weekend includes remarks from Mayor Bill Bell as well a Nerf gun war and, of course, plenty of marathon coding.

Finally, students presented their innovative ideas for fighting Ebola in last week’s Ebola Innovation Challenge presentations. The winning idea was for Ebola kits to provide basic supplies, like biohazard bags and IV fluids, for patient care.
