Traffic Advisory: Buchanan Boulevard Paving July 21 to 25
Additional work to repair storm drain near Burch Avenue
Motorists who travel along Buchanan Boulevard between Maxwell Avenue and Chapel Hill Street may want to find alternate routes next week as the City of Durham wraps up a construction project.
From July 21 to 25, crews will pave Buchanan Boulevard from West Club Boulevard to Chapel Hill Street, reducing traffic to one lane in areas of work. During paving from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., construction staff will be on-hand to direct traffic.
This will take place during additional work farther south on Buchanan. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23 and 25, construction crews will also repair a storm drain on Buchanan Boulevard near Burch Avenue. That will cause the road to be close by that intersection, with only local traffic allowed.
The work may impact Duke community members working or visiting Smith Warehouse, which is adjacent to the construction. In order to access the building and its parking lots, students, faculty and staff will need to use this alternate route via Swift Avenue and West Pettigrew Street.
