Updated Thursday, June 12 at 11:30 a.m.: Campus Drive has been cleared and is now open.

The storm that swept across Durham Wednesday evening knocked over a large tree that is blocking Campus Drive near the Nasher Museum of Art. Campus officials say no one was hurt, but the road is expected to remain closed between Anderson St. and Alexander Ave. until noon on Thursday.

The tree fell at approximately 7 p.m. on a section of Campus Drive between the entrance to the museum's parking lot and the traffic light at Anderson St.

"The most important thing is that no one was injured," said Kyle Cavanaugh, Duke's vice president of administration. "Our facilities management staff and Duke Police were on the scene quickly. After it's daylight and safe to work tomorrow morning, we'll have a team out there to remove the tree and reopen the road as quickly as possible."
