Durham, NC - Duke University has awarded the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship to John Geary Gregory III of Asheville, N.C. Gregory is a graduating senior at Asheville School.

The Alumni Endowed Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, room, board and mandatory fees for eight semesters of undergraduate academic studies, during which the scholar must remain in good standing. The scholarship also provides opportunities to participate in a summer-abroad course and to meet with other scholarship recipients in an informal program conducted during each academic year.

The Duke Alumni Association established The Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship in 1979 to recognize the academic and personal achievements of children or grandchildren of Duke alumni who are accepted for undergraduate admission to Duke. It is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and merit, and leadership activity outside the classroom.

Gregory is the son of Kate Gregory and John Gregory Jr.
