Pictures of a Cabaret: Portraits from the Library Party

Library Party

Perkins Library was turned into a slice of old Paris and members of the Duke community put on their best Jazz Age clothing for the Library Party, "Life Is a Cabaret," Friday night.

There was music from the John Brown Band, the Duke New Music Ensemble and from student DJs.

In conjunction with the party, the library is currently displaying an exhibit on the world of the Parisian cabaret. "Cheap Thrills: The Highs and Lows of Cabaret Culture in Paris, 1880-1939" tells the stories of a variety artists who found a home and a stage in the darkened halls of the cabaret.

The Library Party is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Office of the President, SOFC/DSG, George Grody, Markets and Management Studies Department.
