Football Ticket Special: $5 for Faculty, Staff [UPDATED]

Wear Duke blue Friday to support Duke football as Miami comes to Wallace Wade Saturday

Across campus, faculty and staff wore their Duke blue last week. Employees are encouraged to do so again this week.

[UPDATE: 11/15 at 4 p.m.] The Duke Athletics Ticket Office has sold out of $5 general admission tickets for faculty and staff. The office still has $20 reserved seating tickets available for employees, which are discounted from a normal price of $50.

After a season-high 32,010 fans packed Wallace Wade Stadium last weekend, faculty and staff can help set a new high mark when Duke hosts 23rd-ranked University of Miami on Saturday.

All Duke employees are eligible to purchase deeply discounted tickets to the game for $5 each.

"The atmosphere at Wallace Wade Stadium, when it is full, without question gives out team added energy and enthusiasm," said football head coach David Cutcliffe. "Late in a close game, the fans help create a winning edge for our team that we feel on the field."

With a stadium full of screaming fans behind them on Nov. 9, the Duke football team earned its seventh win of the season over North Carolina State University. Last week, it was hard to miss Duke blue across campus, as students, faculty and staff banded together to don school colors and show support for the Blue Devil football team heading into its game against North Carolina State University.

If fans have their way this week, this Friday should be much of the same. Campus leaders are once again asking students and employees to show school spirit and wear Duke blue on Friday.

Notably, Larry Moneta, vice president for Student Affairs, said he plans to put on a special pair of Duke blue pants one more time.

"Seeing so many students in Duke blue and excited for the State game gave me goosebumps," Moneta said. "I'm so very proud of our team and all our campus community."

Like last week, students and employees can get involved on social media to spread their support and showoff their Duke pride. Campus community can post images to the Working@Duke Facebook page and can use several hashtags to cheer for Duke on Twitter:

  • #DukeBlue
  • #BleedBlue
  • #HereComesDuke
  • #DukeElevate

Kickoff for this Saturday's game against Miami is 3:30 p.m., and Duke Athletics will host a series of pregame festivities starting at 1 p.m. on the K-Ville quad outside the Wilson Recreation Center. The event will include live music, inflatable games, face painting and more.
