The previous dean of Duke Chapel, the Rev. Sam Wells, will return to Durham to preach at the chapel during a worship service celebrating All Saint's Day, 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.

Wells is currently the vicar of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London.

"It is a joy to welcome back to Duke Chapel such a beloved former dean and preacher," said the Rev. Luke A. Powery, the current dean of Duke Chapel. "I join the entire Duke Chapel community in its anticipatory excitement for the presence of Sam and his family on what will be a marvelous Sunday."

During the service, Powery will sing a Eucharistic liturgy. David Arcus, the chapel organist, will accompany the chapel choir in performing "Magnificant and Nunc Dimmittis," which Arcus wrote in honor of Wells and his family. The service will also include baptisms performed by the Congregation at Duke Chapel's newly hired pastor, the Rev. Carol Gregg.
