Durham history

The Museum of Durham History opened its hub Saturday with a day of celebration.  The opening exhibit includes a look at early medicine in Durham. One of the display focuses on the creation of Duke Hospital.

The Durham History Hub is located at 500 W. Main St. downtown in a former transportation station, will allow visitors and residents to connect to Durham's lively and diverse history, including its civil rights struggle, contribution to the arts, and its pioneering economic history.

Beginning Oct. 15, the Hub will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays and Third Fridays in the spring and summer months. Admission is free.
