Duke Kunshan University has received formal approval from China’s Ministry of Education. The new joint venture institution created by Duke and Wuhan University will now begin recruiting students and classes on the campus in Kunshan, China, are expected to begin in September 2014.

In arts news, the newly renovated Baldwin Auditorium hosted its first concert, and a new exhibit at the Center for Documentary Studies -- "Be Still: A Storefront Church in Durham" - features photography of masters student Kristin Bedford.

In research news, Duke scientists have discovered how genetically identical fungi can mate and create genetically different offspring. The finding helps researchers understand how microbes can evolve to cause and spread diseases.
