LDOC Co-Chairs Urge to 'Enjoy It Responsibly'

Message from LDOC Co-Chairs Izzy Dover and Bo Triplett

a

As the Last Day of Classes apporaches, the LDOC Co-Chairs Izzy Dover and Bo Triplett urge students to enjoy the celebration responsibly and safely. Below is their message to students on LDOC policy and how to stay safe for the day:

Wristbands will be distributed on the BC Plaza from 10am-7:30pm Monday 4/22, 10am-5pm 4/23, and on the Main Quad on Wednesday 4/24 from 9am-3:30 pm. After 3:30pm, Main Quad access will be limited to only those with wristbands. Though you will have your wristbands, keep your Duke card on you at all times.

*LDOC is a day of classes

LDOC is a day for celebration, but also keep in mind that it is your final day in class. As a Duke student, you are expected to attend class and show respect to faculty members by attending class sober and behaving appropriately. Students are responsible for LDOC and its continued growth for years to come, so remember, accountability for the event falls on each of you.

*The A-Team

The A-Team is a group of Duke faculty, staff and administrators who will be present on LDOC in order to ensure that all students enjoy the event as much as possible. You can find the A-Team in blue shirts throughout the day. It is their job to help you in any way possible, so please approach them if you have any concerns. They will also act as policy enforcers in order to ensure the safety of the event.

*Alcohol Policy

The committee has worked hard with administrators to make sure the day is enjoyable for everyone. So remember:

  • Each student is permitted to carry a maximum of six 12 oz. cans at a time
  • This means NO CASES are permitted anywhere on campus for the entirety of LDOC, this includes transportation of cases
  • Alcohol other than beer is not permitted
  • Glass containers and all bottles exceeding 20 oz. are not permitted
  • Students may not distribute alcohol

*Bench Policy

  • Due to crowd control regulations of the LDOC tour, students are not permitted to move benches or any other furniture on the main quad during the day. This includes section benches, couches, or any other large furniture items. Movement of furniture will result in police action and removal from the event.
  • Lawn chairs, towels and blankets are encouraged.

*Bag Policy

  • After 4pm, no bags larger than a fanny pack that are not transparent will be allowed on the quad for safety reasons.
  • All bags left unattended will be removed by Duke police and are subject to search.

The LDOC committee has worked tirelessly to put this event together for the student body, so please enjoy it responsibly.
