Duke in Pictures: Duke Hackathon

Hackathon

About 100 students from Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill spent more than 24 hours together Saturday and Sunday developing websites, iphone/android apps and more entirely from scratch during HackBlue, a student run hackathon sponsored by Google, Palantir, Github, 10gen, and Duke's Innovations Co-Lab.

The students competed for prizes for the most innovative creations.  Among the winning entries was an iPad app which could detect up to eight different hand motions and gestures with the iPad's camera. Another implemented advanced computer vision algorithms to detect drumsticks to play a virtual drum set.

A panel with members from the Duke Innovations Co-Lab, Palantir and Computer Science departments judged the entries.
