Duke in Pictures: Wheelchair Basketball and Medical Education

Bridge to sports

On Thursday night, Duke students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant programs and fourth-year medical students learned about working with children and adults with physical challenges to play team and individual sports.

Below, Ashley Thomas, executive director of the non-profit Bridge II Sports program, teaches students about sitting volleyball. The students also learned about wheelchair basketball and boccia ball during the "Adaptive Sports Experience" at the Brodie Recreation Center.
