$40 Off Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Tickets
Durham, NC - Kathryn Dailey enjoys sitting close to the ice when she goes to Carolina Hurricanes games.
"You can hear them hit the puck and feel the buzz," said Dailey, program coordinator for the Graduate Nursing Education Project at Duke University Hospital. "But I couldn't afford the tickets without help from Duke."
Through PERQS, the Duke employee discount program, Dailey purchased two sideline premier tickets to the Feb. 21 game against the Winnipeg Jets for $60 each, a savings of $40 per ticket compared to game-day pricing.
Staff and faculty can buy discounted tickets to four Carolina Hurricanes games through the end of April. Discount pricing offers a savings of $19 to $40 per ticket, depending on seat location within the PNC Arena in Raleigh.
Discounts are available for the following games:
- March 14 at 7 p.m., Washington Capitals
- March 21 at 7 p.m., New Jersey Devils
- April 4 at 7 p.m., Tampa Bay Lightning
- April 25 at 7 p.m., New York Rangers.
Duke employees must use a Duke email (ending in "duke.edu") to establish an account and purchase the discounted tickets. The discount offer expires one week before game date.
Dailey said she has been following the Hurricanes since they won the Stanley Cup in 2006 and makes a point of attending games when Duke offers the discount.
"I love hockey, but regular tickets are a bit expensive," Dailey said. "My husband used to occasionally try to score cheap tickets on Craigslist, but it is a whole lot easier to plan ahead and use the PERQS discount."
