Editor's Note: This message was sent to all Duke students, faculty and staff in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act(also known as the Clery Act), which requires colleges and universities to provide timely notification to members of the university community of certain crimes reported on campus.

On Monday at approximately 12:50 a.m., a robbery was reported by a Duke employee on Markham Avenue near Lancaster St. 

The employee reported that a male wearing dark clothing, a mask and carrying a black handgun approached him and took his bookbag.

The suspect is described as six feet tall and about 180 to 200 lbs. The suspect was last seen in the area of Markham and Onslow Street. Durham Police are investigating. 

If you have any information related to this incident, please contact the Duke University Police Department at (919)684-2444. Please plan off campus travel and take advantage of Duke Vans. Report suspicious activity to 9-1-1.
