The Duke community is invited to submit comments as part of a university review of the performance of Tracy Futhey, vice president for information technology and chief information officer (CIO) for Duke University. Regular reviews of senior administrators of the university are conducted in the fourth year of their five year term by a committee that submits a confidential report to Executive Vice President Tallman Trask III.

Tim Walsh, vice president for finance, chairs the review committee.  Other members are:  Leslie Collins (Pratt), John Gallagher (Fuqua), James McPherson (Human Resources), Lynn Smith-Lovin (Sociology) Dan Sorin (Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science), and Billy Willis (Duke Health Technology Solutions).

This is Futhey's second review.  In 2002 she came from Carnegie Mellon to Duke as VP for information technology and CIO.

The charge to the committee poses several questions for review, including Futhey's strategic leadership and accomplishments, Futhey's leadership effectiveness in regard to technology support and innovation as well as whether the role remains appropriate for facing future opportunities and challenges.

The committee invites members of the Duke community to share their thoughts by email or letter, or communicate orally with any committee member. Communication should include the nature of your interactions with Futhey. The committee will keep all comments confidential.

All comments should be submitted by Dec. 10, 2012.

Send comments by email to committee chair Walsh at tim.walsh@duke.edu or by letter to Futhey Review Committee (Attn: Anne Light), Box 90028, Duke University, Durham NC 27708. To arrange an appointment to present comments in person, call Anne Light at 684-5590.
