Donate to Campus-Wide Can Drive This Week
Durham, NC - Academic schools across Duke are holding a food drive competition to see which school can collect the most cans this week to donate to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
Duke students, faculty and staff are invited to participate by dropping off cans, non-perishable goods and other items at collection locations throughout campus. Collections take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
"We know how much people love competition, so we thought it would be fun to get as many people involved as we can," said Kathy Kay, director of special events at Pratt. "It's a fun way for us to work together, give back, get involved, and strengthen our own sense of community here at Duke."
The winning school will receive the "Silver Shopping Cart Award," a miniature cart on a plaque with the winning school's name on it. The competition has previously been held within the Pratt School of Engineering but was opened up to the entire campus community this year.
