In his sermon during the Founders' Day Sunday worship service, Professor Stanley Hauerwas says in a sermon on a passage from The Book of Esther, "The trust that makes our lives possible also makes us vulnerable."

About debate at universities, Hauerwas says, "Truth honed from conflict is the alternative to war."
