Facilities Management to inspect Duke Chapel ceiling Sept. 10

print |

Durham, NC - Motorists traveling along Chapel Drive near the Duke Chapel will be restricted from driving up to the iconic Duke building due to planned construction starting next week.

On Sept. 10 and 11 and again Sept. 19 and 20, Parking and Transportation Services will close the portion of road the runs in a loop from the Allen Building to Duke Chapel and back around to the West Campus Union Building.

The closure is necessary as Facilities Management works to inspect the Duke Chapel ceiling and moves pews and chairs onto an 18-wheel truck that will be parked outside the chapel. This portion of Chapel Drive will be closed all day on each of the scheduled work days.

The construction and driving restrictions will not impact Duke buses or cars picking up or dropping off students, employees or visitors by the main West Campus bus stop outside the Allen Building. Reserved parking spaces outside the administrative building will not be impacted.
