Duke Performances Discounted Tickets Available for Students

Discounted Duke student tickets to all Duke Performances' 2012/13 offerings are on sale today, Tuesday, August 21. 

Supported by a subsidy from the Provost's office, Duke Performances is able to offer tickets to Duke students for just $10 per ticket.  While $10 is an increase from previous years, it was a necessary change that reflects changing budgetary requirements.

Duke Performances remains a leader across the nation in providing students with affordable access to top-flight artists from around the world. 

The $10 student ticket is good for any seat in the house, though quantities of student tickets may be limited.  Two $10 tickets may be purchased with any valid Duke student ID.

Highlights of Fall 2012 include

  • Contemporary gospel with Durham-born shouter John P. Kee & The New Life Community Choir at Hayti Heritage Center on Sept. 14 and 15 and pioneering gospel quartet The Mighty Clouds of Joy on Nov.16 and 17 also at Hayti.
  • The popular Recital Series featuring guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk, Sept. 28; dynamic young Chopin Prize winning pianist Rafal Blechacz, Oct.12; and pianist PIotr Anderszewski, Nov.30.
  • The multi-talented Meredith Monk will be in residence at Duke Performances in October and November; Monk -- composer, performer, choreographer, filmmaker, writer, and visual artist -- will perform Education of the Girlchild Revisited with members of her company on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, in Reynolds Theater.
  • The symphonic sweep of Chapel Hill's Lost in the Trees is joined by a 12-piece chamber orchestra under the direction of New Music Raleigh in their performance on Friday, Dec. 7.
