William Wright-Swadel, third from right, executive director of Duke's Career Center, and Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for administration, third from left, spoke with several North Carolina Central University students on June 29 about ways they can enhance their chances when they enter the job market after graduation.

The NCCU students are mass communications majors who are participating in a 10-week paid internship program at Duke in which they work in various communications offices around campus. The program is now in its seventh year and each summer about a dozen students are selected through a competitive interview process.

The program is supervised by Charmaine McKissick-Melton, head of NCCU's mass communications department, and Keith Lawrence, Duke's director of media relations.
