Duke track and field legend Al Buehler and famed Olympic runner Mary Decker share a pose as Decker presents Buehler with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the USA Track and Field Alumni Association at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., on June 27.

Buehler, who has taught at Duke for more than 50 years and served as coach in several Olympic games, was praised as a man who changed track and field coaching, gave rise to Olympic stars and even helped to improve racial and international relations through the sport.

The awards ceremony will take place following a 5p.m., screening of "Starting at the Finish Line: The Coach Buehler Story."  The film features interviews with Buehler's Olympic athletes and is narrated by Grant Hill.  The new book, "Starting at the Finish Line: Coach Al Buehler's Timeless Wisdom" (Perigee/Penguin Books), by film producer Amy Unell, went on sale today (Wednesday).
