"Mad Men" fans know that the show's advertising agency scored its first "car," albeit under questionable circumstances.  In 1966, getting Jaguar as a client would have been a boon for any advertising agency, but to see how a real firm handled the company, you can go to Duke's John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History collection.  Part of the collection is material from the Outdoor Advertising Association of America Slide Library, which includes this photo from 1986.  The ad's message of "Swift Silent Sensuous" isn't far off from the approach of the fictional Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.
