Duke In Pictures: Earth Day Celebration

Students, faculty and staff from across Duke celebrated the annual April holiday

Above, Ansel Bubel, center, a Nicholas School of the Environment graduate student, instructs two other students on how to properly use a crosscut saw. Bubel, a member of the Society of American Foresters, set up this booth during Duke's annual Earth Day celebration outside of the Levine Science Research Center. Because the Nicholas School was originally a forestry school, Bubel said the Duke student group of American Foresters wanted to "keep the spirit of the school alive" by letting Duke community members try their skill at cutting a poplar tree from Duke Forest.
