Normal Operations Through Sunday Night

Weather conditions will be assessed tonight for decision about Monday morning

Duke officials continue to closely monitor a winter weather system that may bring sleet and snow to the Durham area late this afternoon through 9 a.m. Monday. Forecasters indicate a half-inch to one-inch of snow is possible. Currently, the severe weather and emergency conditions policy is not in effect, and at this time, officials do not expect to activate the policy Sunday night. Campus events will proceed as scheduled. An update will be announced later tonight about Monday morning.  Duke facilities crews are on standby and prepared to respond and treat icy roads and sidewalks affected by weather conditions. Members of the Duke community are encouraged to review the information about Duke's severe weather policy, including a map of priorities for clearing roads, lots and sidewalks, at the DukeALERT emergency website. If the severe weather policy is activated, it will be made through the various DukeALERT channels, including email, text message, and Duke's emergency website. A message also will be recorded on the severe weather/emergency conditions telephone line at 684-INFO (4636).  Managers should monitor Duke Today for updates as conditions warrant and ensure staff members are aware of the service category for their position and how they will be notified if the severe weather policy is activated.
