Durham, NC - Dan Ariely and the Center for Advanced Hindsight are inviting artists from around the world to create a piece representing social and economic inequality.

The project, which combines social science and art, will kick off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 with a discussion on social and economic inequality. Artists who do not live within driving distance of Durham, NC will have the ability to watch the forum while it streams live online at http://tinychat.com/creativedishones

C4AH is inviting all artists to join a stimulating discussion on social and economic inequality, wealth distribution and what is so taxing about taxation. "We ask: Pourquoi? And what can we do about poorquality?"

Interested artists are required to RSVP to Catherine Howard, project curator at creativedishonesty@gmail.com by Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m.

After the forum, artists interested in creating artwork in response to the research will complete an online application, including a one-page explanation of the artist’s creative process and two or three digital images of past work. Applications must be submitted by Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. EST.

Artists will be notified if they are selected to participate by Feb. 29 and will receive a $100 stipend to complete their piece.  There is no limitation to the style or media of pieces created for "PoorQuality" but all work must be completed by May 5.

Artwork created for "PoorQuality" will be on display at the Center for Advanced Hindsight from June 1 to August 31 with a reception on June 22. An exhibit catalogue, including responses and reflections by the artists and the researchers, will be published. Each artist will receive a copy.

Artists will retain all rights to their piece. Works will be returned to artists after the exhibit by Sept. 15 or if the piece is purchased, the $100 stipend will be deducted from the purchase price.
