Name: Pam Hanson

Position: Director of advancement services, Pratt School of Engineering

Years at Duke: 17 years

What I do at Duke is: I'm responsible for keeping up with alumni information to help our development officers cultivate donors. I also plan alumni events.

If I had $5 million, I would: I'd definitely save for my children's education and their future. I have two children, a 9-year old son and 12-year old daughter. I think my son wants to be some type of engineer because he likes to build things. My daughter wants to be a veterinarian. She loves animals and even has a goat she shows at local fairs.

My first ever job was: I worked at a Roses Department Store on North Duke Street 24 years ago. I was working there part time during high school as a cashier to get some money to pay for things like gas. I worked there for two or three years. It's actually where I first met my husband.

My dream job is: I really think I have it. I love working with alumni. It's really neat to first see them as freshmen, graduate as seniors and then come back to Duke with their own kids.

The best advice I ever received was: My mom always told me to never worry about the little things in life. There are so many things that could go wrong in a day, so it's important to remember that nothing's perfect.

What I love about Duke is: I love the campus and the overall atmosphere. It's so beautiful. Sometimes for lunch I'll go walk around for fun.

When I'm not at work, I like to: Since I have two young kids, I'm pretty busy. My daughter recently finished cheering for a recreation and middle school football team. My son plays baseball when it's warmer.

Something most people don't know about me is: I have a twin sister that lives in Durham. I live in Wilton . Some people have seen her around the city and thought she was me. When I was pregnant years ago, one of the professors from Pratt saw my sister and said how great he thought I looked because I had lost the weight so fast.

If I could have one superpower, it would be: The ability to clone myself - even though I'm already an identical twin. If I could be in two places at once, that would be great. I can get so busy with my kid's activities and work.

An interesting day at work for me was: We do a lot of funs things that we try to have benefit others. Around Thanksgiving, we had a canned food drive competition to see who could bring in the most items for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolinas.
