In the last full week before Thanksgiving, there is still a cornucopia of free things to do at Duke. Here's our pick of five events you might want to add to your calendar.
Noon to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14: World Diabetes Day Activities and Chapel Lighting. In honor of World Diabetes Day, there will be presentations at the Bryan Center Plaza from noon to 4 p.m. from global health groups dealing with chronic diseases. Stop by Duke Chapel at 6 p.m. to see the whole building illuminated in blue, the color of the international diabetes movement. Sponsored by the Duke Global Health Institute and Student Affairs.

2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) and Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies sponsor a workshop on Effective Survey Design for Online, Paper and Mixed-mode Questionnaires. Held in Old Chemistry 01. Registration required.
8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. Vote for your favorite team in the 6th Annual Elevator Pitch Finals where the top 16 Duke startup teams compete for $5,000. Sponsored by Duke Start-up Challenge (DSC). Held in the Reynolds Theater at the Bryan Center following the Duke Men's Basketball game, which begins at 6 p.m.
10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Nature Storytime, an outdoor storytime for children ages 3 to 8 sponsored by the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. Adult chaperone required.
