PERQS Offers Southpoint Cinemas Discount

PERQS Offers Southpoint Cinemas Discount

Duke's discount program drops Northgate Mall Stadium 10 Theater, adds Southpoint

Durham, NC - There's still time to see summer blockbuster movies, and the Duke PERQS program has just made it easier.

As of Aug. 8, the PERQS program is offering discounted tickets to cinemas run by Stone Theatres, which includes the Southpoint Cinemas in Durham. PERQS continues to offer discounted tickets to theaters run by the Regal Entertainment Group, but no longer sells tickets to the Stadium 10 at Northgate theater.

According to Kathy Dury, program manager for PERQS, Stadium 10 tickets were not in high demand and were difficult to order. "We had several requests to offer discounted tickets to the theater at Streets of Southpoint and since their prices were the same as the Stadium 10 tickets, we decided to make a change," she said.

For Southpoint Cinemas and the Stone Theatres in Fayetteville and Myrtle Beach, S.C., Duke faculty and staff can purchase $7 Premium Discount Tickets, which are valid any time, or $6 Reel Discount Tickets, which are valid only after the first 14 days of a new release. Both tickets are valid for daytime or evening admission, but do not include the extra cost of 3D glasses necessary for 3D features.

Discount tickets are available every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Staff and Family Programs, 705 Broad St., Room 201; and every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Medical Center Human Resources, Room 1527 Blue Zone, Duke Clinics (Duke South). There is a limit of 10 tickets per purchase, and payment must be in cash.
